Fatal Bicycle Accidents in Michigan
Numerous Michiganders opt for bicycles as a safe and effective method for transportation. Over the past decade, we have seen a dramatic increase in the number of teenagers opting for bicycles instead of motor vehicles for transportation. Although bikes are generally safer, more affordable, and extremely reliable methods of transportation, they do not leave riders out of harm’s way. In fact, more than 1,700 people are injured in bicycle accidents across our state annually. Approximately 20 victims end up passing away due to their injuries.
When bicyclists lose their lives in accidents, their families are often left to endure overwhelming mental and emotional consequences. Many families are ill-equipped to spend tens of thousands of dollars on funeral services and burial arrangements as a result of the sudden and unexpected death of a loved one. For this reason, our state provides families legal avenues they can explore to obtain compensation to help alleviate the financial burdens they face moving forward after the loss of a loved one due to the negligence of another person. By working with a knowledgeable wrongful death attorney in Michigan, families can rest assured knowing their legal rights and best interests are protected as they move forward after experiencing a sudden loss.
