Detroit, MI (October 6, 2020) – An automobile accident reported in Detroit claimed the life of one child while leaving several others injured on Monday evening. The Detroit Police Department was called to the site of a collision on Joy Road.

Reports provided by local news sources indicate that a 33-year-old woman and her four children, ages 2, 3, 6, and 7-years-old, were traveling east on Joy Road in a white GMC Yukon, at approximately 6:30 p.m. For unknown reasons, the GMC crashed into a northbound black GMC Yukon near the intersection with Artesian Street.

The impact of the crash caused the white GMC to roll over, ejecting the 6-year-old child. The child was fatally injured as a result of this accident and pronounced dead at the scene by responding officers.

The other three children in the vehicle, as well as the driver of the black Yukon, were all transported to local hospitals immediately following the crash. At this time, the police in Detroit are investigating the accident.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the child who lost their life in this accident.

Our thoughts are with the victims who were injured in this accident. We hope for their full recovery.
